November 6th, 2017
Abraham Erb staff and students have been preparing a memorable Remembrance Day ceremony for November 10th from 10-11 a.m. This year we have the opportunity to host the Memory Project Community Ambassador for The Waterloo Region, Mr. Ronald Gross, who served in the Canadian Army from 1960 – 1967 and United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus in 1966-67.
Remembrance Day is a time to think about the importance of peace, freedom and everyday heroes who are part of all of our lives. We remember because we know that freedom isn’t free. To remember is to work for peace. Take some time to talk to your children about how they can work for peace in our school, in our community and in our homes.
Since November 11th falls on a Saturday this year, we would also like to encourage families to take the opportunity to attend a Remembrance Day ceremony happening throughout our area. The Waterloo ceremony will begin with a parade at 10:15 a.m. which arrives at the cenotaph for the laying of wreaths at 10:30 a.m. (100 Regina St. North, beside Laurel Creek).
Lest We Forget.
