We are pleased to announce the appointment of Bobbie Chatha as a new Superintendent of Student Achievement and Well-Being, effective April 29, 2024.

Bobbie’s career spans over two decades, marked by progressive leadership roles and a deep commitment to fostering a culture of Human Rights and Equity within the educational landscape. Before joining the Waterloo Region District School Board, Bobbie taught in both the Toronto and Peel District School Boards.

An alumna of WRDSB herself, her career at the WRDSB started in 2004. Bobbie taught at W.T. Townshend and in 2010 became the Vice-Principal at Lester B. Pearson then moved to Millen Woods and Moffat Creek Public School before being named the Principal at Rockway Public School in 2015. From Rockway she moved into a central role as a Principal Coach and then into her current position as a System Administrator.

When Bobbie’s not at work, she enjoys travelling and exploring on her motorcycle, doing yoga and finding unique coffee shops to try. Bobbie is the youngest of five siblings, having grown up in a large Punjabi family, and has two adult sons who are graduates of WRDSB schools. Bobbie is honoured, as a part of her passion for community involvement, to mentor racialized students, colleagues, educators and families.

“On behalf of all of the Senior Team, we are so excited to welcome Bobbie to this new role,” said jeewan chanicka, director of education for the WRDSB. “Bobbie’s education leadership and passion for supporting the learning of students will support our shared work in centring students and supporting their learning in collaboration with families and caregivers.”

We look forward to welcoming Bobbie to this new role, and to the leadership and guidance she will provide for staff and students across the WRDSB as she focuses her efforts on student achievement and well-being.
