On this day, just as on other days, we are committed to creating an environment where every child feels included and valued. We recognize that not all families celebrate Halloween.

On Thursday, October 31st, we are having a school-wide spirit day called “Out of the Ordinary Day.” Your child is welcome to dress in ways that feel comfortable for them but that might be a bit different than what they’d wear on a typical school day. We are looking forward to seeing what creative outfits students and staff come up with! If your child chooses to wear a Halloween costume to school, we ask that students refrain from wearing full face masks, or costume pieces that may be perceived to be a weapon or that depict violence or gore.

October 31st will be a regular school day, with no exchange of treats between students or from staff to students. Learning activities will continue in the same ways as other days, with opportunities, as appropriate, to understand this celebration in ways that are similar to the ways in which students learn about many other celebrations from around the world throughout the year.

Thank-you for continuing to work with us as we aim to create an environment where every child feels included, valued and treated with dignity.
