Our Abraham Erb School Council plays an important role in the school community. All parents/guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend School Council meetings. Abraham Erb School Council will meet on dates that are listed below for the 2024-2025 school year to share information and provide an opportunity for parent input to school programs, initiatives, and plans. Our first meeting is: Wednesday, September 18th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.  The meeting will be held virtually and a meeting link will be shared closer through School-Day closer to the date.

Each year, at the first School Council meeting, an election is held to determine who will hold the positions of Chair (one position, meets with Principal before each meeting to set agenda, chairs the meetings), Treasurer (one position, background in finance/managing finances is an asset for this position, meets with Principal before each meeting to set agenda, does the accounting for Council finances and reports on finances each meeting, collaborates with head secretary ahead of each meeting to get financial reports), Secretary (one position, meets with Principal before each meeting to set agenda, takes attendance and minutes for each meeting, sends minutes to Principal for posting on School Day and school website), Community Member (one position, has voting privileges on all motions presented) and Member-at-Large (multiple positions, have voting privileges on all motions presented). These positions are “voting members” of Council and it will be important for these people to commit to attending all council meetings if possible. Positions where only one person has expressed an interest will be acclaimed. It is also an option for parents/guardians to participate in and attend Abraham Erb School Council meetings as non-voting members.
